Original Woman

As the creativeness flows out my body
it spurs through the crevices of my elbows
out the wrinkles
from the curvature of my smile
the allocation elevates me past gravity
introducing me to the holy masters'
premonition to the spirals that form my strands
to the velocity at which my thick hips sway
measuring the weight of my bosom
equating them to that comfy pillow
imagination can make my eyes
binoculars
creative juices make me stay a float
a mango some passion fruit and blackberry
draw in a line and they say
don't mock me
flying with high horses
they don't see that I'm the
reason why they be
possibility is at ease

This is to all my single ladies

Hello there,
Today I want to reach out to young women my age and and around it; women that share the same grounds as me; women that love themselves dearly; women that can relate. This is to all my single ladies. If it is to you, then you will understand and read easy; if not then I do apologize. Comment and I will clarify.
Now I want to talk about having a companion, a boyfriend, a special someone. If you are single, you may be feeling a little insecure of the reasons why; well sisters; please do not feel that way.
Just because the right guy hasn't approached you yet; it does not mean that you are not an intelligent, beautiful, and respectful young lady. We as women who share many similarities in life must realize that our everyday experiences give us the strength that makes us illuminate any room we walk into. For this could very well be the reason why that guy does not know how to walk up to you.
To me, that makes it all the more better because then when they build up all their confidence, they are all the more respectful. Now they know that they are dealing with some real female, not just any female who would give a brother play any day.
They have to know that you are regal lady that has standards that your man needs to reach for and achieve.
I believe that you have to have the ability to be down to earth, polite and of good mannerisms. The knowledge of when it is right to make a scene and a mouth when it is time to prove your point discretely. You will let them know that you can argue and state your case logically and reasonably. Most of all, you will not sit around and disappear into the white wall.
She the women knows when and how to serve and please her man in all aspects, but is not going to and will not be walked on.
So be patient and wait for life to turn to you.

Look to yourself

I have learned that you can never rely on anyone other than yourself. Yes you do have to have the ability to trust others but do not relay all the trust on them. What I am really saying is try not to expect much from others. I know this is starting to sound a little pessimistic but its reality. People may always let you down, but through that you can find the strength to learn your way. You have to look within yourself to find the voice within. Trust that you can make the right decision from life lessons learned and wisdom gained.
Stay positve and believe in yourself.

You will be alright

I know sometimes it feels like the whole world is on your shoulders
but with the strength from family and friends you can make it through.
Just know that the trials and obstacles in life will only make you stronger. As you learn to solve problems and avoid stressful situations, character builds; and a strong memorable character is what you need in life.
I am only saying this because sometimes as college students or at any point in our lives, we tend to feel so stressed out that we think there is no way out. Turn to your faith. Turn to your family. Turn to your friends and you will be just fine.
Peace
Stay strong

Little Miss Anthem- Shine On

Hello there,
I wrote a little saying that I thought all girls should say and keep in their heart. Read it. Share it. And tell me what you think about it.

I will wake up and say
I'm a queen
I'm a star
That you can't shine down
I am free
I know I can go far
No one can hinder me
I'll be who I wanna be
Try to break me
Try to make me fall
But you can't touch me
Cuz I got God on my side
No matter what you try to do
I will wake up and say
I'm a queen
I'm a star
That you can't shine down
I am free
I know I can go far

Be Creative

Hello there,
I did it. I braided my own hair with extensions, well really my sister and I did it.I was really hesitant to try, but I overcame my fear of it turning out bad, sat down and started one braid at a time. It took forever, but it came out pretty good for our first trial. I learned from a couple of tutorials on youtube. So thank you youtube!
With this added feature to my talents, I am becoming more and more willing to increase my creativity. I think it is such a good thing for women to do all they can do by themselves. Yes we do need the services of others but its great to be able to do things on your own. I am now taking the step to learn how to sew, and when I make that first dress, I will be ecstatic and ready to tackle the next thing.
So ladies, be creative. Pick up a piece of thread, get some yarn, learn how to do your own hair. Be expressive with a pen. Show the world that we can.

Be Positive

I like to think that I am a strong willed young individual who would like to remind others to always live life to the best of your ability. No matter what life
brings your way, just remember that you are alive and that you have a chance to
turn the bad into good and the good into better.
Life has taught me that with positivity and joyous light consistently linked to me; I can only rise to the top with those who love and respect me. I believe that in
life we are here to live joyously by loving, uplifting, and serving each other.
And with that, may we all have lives that may prosper with brand new
possibilities.
As the years of life pass by, we gain more experience which leads to wisdom. We should use this new given wisdom to never let anyone break us from the beautiful, and strong beings we are. I think something that helps me continue through life is to always think about others; I would like to think that I can inspire one
to do something good, that I am someones inspiration, or that I am someones
burst of positivity.
So promise yourself something today, something of virtue,
something of meaning and love.
As lovely creatures, we should only exude love, sensitivity, and compassion.
Smile, love, and enjoy life.
Stay lifted and beautiful.

The desire that runs through her eyes
The glare of struggle, life, pain, endurance runs through her soul like
the strength that is seen in her veins
the way that her heartbeats is unheard of
Just as the river never stands still
she never sits down
never takes care of herself
grasps the little ones when they weep
encourages her man
lends her ears to those who feel to vent
reaches out her hands to help them up
She has a proud walk
She smiles without hesitation
As her cheekbones rise
there is nothing else to do

Cherish our men

Hi there,
Okay. Today this goes out to my fellow Black females. I posted this question on the essence community: Why is the present perception of the young Black male twisted and negatively prejudged? I know, big question right.
Well I got some replies and what it it seems to ball down to is that we see it portrayed and we believe it, we accept it, we tolerate it, we become okay with it. We cannot see it and say nothing. We have to say something. We must say something. Sisters, I am talking to you. We must reeducate them. Tell them to pull up their pants. Tell them to stop hanging on the corner. There is a prejudgment because of the stereotypes, so, get rid of it.
I feel like everything starts at home. Teach your sons, brothers, cousins, friends to focus their energy on faith. The faith that even if they are not loved by family members, they can receive that love from us. Below is an excerpt from a piece that I wrote:
...It is true that our men do not hear enough encouragement throughout their lives so, as Black women we should fill that void. We should soothe their ears with love and compassion. Let them know that they are our leaders, our lovers, our supporters, and are powerful individuals who have the ability to make a difference. We should honor our men and let them know that we are there to tell them to keep their chin up. When the world is not on their side pushing them down; we are there to lift our Black men up. As they should be there for us, we are there for them. We are to feed our men with knowledge of respect and to let them know when they have sprinted over the line. At times we might forget that all they need is a little love so we should hold them and let them know that even though they might feel pressured to do certain things in society; we are here for them, to upgrade, to love and honor them. With us there is an air of comfort and ease.
We have the power to make them feel high and mighty. We have the power to change a boy into a man. However, in order for that statement to be true, we must respect ourselves. We must give ourselves high but accessible standards. We are regal queens and any man who comes in contact with us should realize it; and therefore, know immediately that we respond only to respectful comments. But if we lose our self respect, our counterparts begin to lose their ability to become men, only because they don’t have to. They have to know that we are exclusive and know that we are intriguing women that have standards in which they are to attain. It is necessary to be the type of women that loves her self and is confident enough to know that we are worth the world and more. They will no longer give that fast chick on the corner their time because of the now unveiled new direction and hopeful destination. They will have a new respect for women.
We must stand strong together as one and not respond to those rude hollers that we get daily as we walk to school or work. Together we will climb out of that deep and narrow hole that was dug for us and reach that plateau of self respect together. If they realize that women are continuously not responding to their loud bird calls, then it is possible that they will stop and think to realize that they must stop that irksome behavior. They will soon start to take the steps towards man-li-hood and step up their game to connect and contact us, women with self respect. They will then become enhanced gentlemen. . As you consciously better yourself, you unconsciously better the male. We must re inform our men; we must uplift our men, we must honor our men...
I believe that with actions and only actions things can be changed.
Stay Blessed

My Anthem! Our Anthem!

Hi there,
YES, I FINALLY FOUND IT. MY ANTHEM! Chrisette Michele my girl had to bring it down. I don't think you understand how happy I feel. Even though I am kind of upset I didn't make it up myself, I will not be a hater.
So the song talks about... guess what..Ladies please be a queen.
I really don't have anything else to say right now. I just wanted to let you all in on the song. Her lyrics speak for me. And isten to it for yourself, it's embedded right here on this page.:
-Girl Respect Yourself-
Say that I’m a queen, Say that I’m lovely
Say I’m standing tall, I’m all that I can be
Say you’re beautiful, if no one else will
Tell yourself until you believe in you
Nothing wrong with smiles hold your head up high
You can touch the sky everyone can fly hold your head up high
No one bring you down, keep your body clean
Queens are purity, lady be a queen

Girl respect yourself
Girl respect yourself
Lady be a queen
Lady be a queen

I loved Mr. Man, Mr. Man was lost
He didn’t love my body no
He didn’t love my heart
I gave my everything just to love a man
My love my purity oh
Just to find a friend
Never will I run from my heart again
First show me the diamonds, then take off my jeans
Now I’m free again, standing on my own
Loving me again oh freedom for my soul

I’m an heir to the throne of the most high
You neglect me, you neglect what you live by
Lady pick your head up don’t let him disgrace you
Lady watch what he says don’t let him degrade you
And if his body’s calling let him wait till your ready
Save what you earned until a diamond gets lucky
Make sure you got a man who knows what force unites us
In this world we living in your man can only be righteous
Brothers call her Queen and treat her like she’s worth it
don’t let words demean, Queens don’t deserve it
Ima stand tall like the heir I know I am
I’m only gonna win if I am right within yep
-Chrisette Michele-
Stay Blessed.

Dress Code

Hi there,
Well it seems as I have had writers block for a while now. I think I may be thinking too hard. Anyways, today I think I am going to talk about respecting yourself enough to be a lady.
It is getting closer to those summer days. Yes, hotter weather does require less clothes but please, PLEASE,lets all stop for a second and breathe. Ladies, if that is who you truly are, look in your mirrors; and when I say look, I mean look! I see women in the streets with their cracks all out in the open. I always think to myself, why can't these women love themselves enough to be ladies and represent themselves with class and dignity.
I don't know, I guess it can depend on how you were raised. You see, my parents taught my sisters and I to love ourselves, and to treat ourselves with the up most respect. You can't say you respect yourself and leave it all out in the open. It just doesn't make much sense. You may think that I am going a little over board but, I feel like i can't stress this enough. LOVE YOURSELVES AND YOU WILL BE LOVED.
If you don't see it by the words that are printed here, then maybe you will notice it when you walk outside. If your crack is out, you will get attention, but is it the right kind of attention? Men will be men, when they see something that makes them excited they will act on it and say something. However that does not mean that they respect you. It does not mean that they even care about you and when you entertain their calls, it makes it even worse.
Yes, they may remember you, but it will only be for your body. Be memorable in the right way. Let them see your mind, not your thighs. Let them see your aspirations, not your...
Be true to yourself.
Love yourself.
At least like yourself enough to know that you are exquisite.
Stay Blessed.

Monday

Proud

Hi there,
Ugh! It's over! I know, I know, you don't know what I am talking about. Well this past week I was in a Ms. Haiti pageant on my college campus.I won third place! The actual event was on Thursday night. I have never been so nervous in my life. Being extremely nervous to perform is kind of new to me; I have been performing in front of big audiences since a young age. So why was I so nervous; I DON'T KNOW. My palms were sweaty and my mouth was dry; but once I got through the first question I was good. The pageant was so much fun. It was a beautiful thing to see so many wonderful ladies proudly representing our culture, my Haitian culture.
You know sometimes you are not sure that people are proud of where they come from especially if there are so many negative stereotypes attached to it. But being a part of this pageant has reassured me that your culture and heritage will never leave you. In order to alter the social stigma connected to it you must live it, be it, and continuously represent it with no doubts or hesitations.
It was great to hear so many people shouting and screaming for AYITI, yelling and hollering for the ladies that represented AYITI oh so well. This past Thursday was an enriching experience for me. I would say enriching because I never realized how important it was to be recognized for your country. I was always proud to be a Haitian individual, but it was never more than that. I would love to take it to the next level. I hope that everyone has the chance to represent their culture in some way and some form as I did. It is an experience to remember.
Never hold back the values taught or your drive for creative works. Always stand tall and firm and believe in who you are. One of my favorite quotes is from Terrance Howard and it just happens to fit with what I am talking about: "Presence walks into a room and surrounds and fills anything that’s in that room without trying to demand it, it takes it. It can come from a smile." Be that presence, let it inhabit your body, be the presence that stands strong for its origin. So this post is for everyone; believe in yourself right from the start, believe in your heart, believe in who you are. OMG! I sound like Lena Horne from the movie The Wiz. It is funny but it is also very true. Believe in yourself the whole way through.
Stay Blessed.

We Are Worthy!

Hi there,
Well, I was on the Tyra show site a couple of days ago and and saw that Thursdays show was on teen virgins and "the peer pressure they face to become promiscuous, and the embarrassment they feel for not being sexually active." I was not in front of a television at that time so I did not see the show. However, I still have something to say.

I think that we need to value ourselves, have some self love. Agh! Just know that you are worthy. Why should you feel embarrassed for not being sexually active? Just because all your friends speak highly of it, it does not mean that you should take part. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

I believe that our bodies are sacred and the Lords temple. I believe that we are to wait for the one who truly loves us and who can commit to us. You see what happens is that when we give it too easy that little spark is gone; that little spark of hunt and chase dissipates into thin air. Guys like to hunt. That drive is in them and if you take that away, it is no longer fun. Where's the challenge? Where's that pride in saying, yeah he worked hard for it? Where's the mystery for the guy? And trust, all things that come too easy don't last for long. It is with the dedication, commitment, and esteemed faith that things are earned, deserved and cherished.

Now you may disagree with me and say: "But no I am not giving it too easy. I am just in a relationship and that is what we do. I don't want to be with him for so long and then find out that he can't satisfy me in the bedroom. Come on, you gotta try it out first." Well I am not asking you to agree with me, I am only suggesting that you think before you act.

Now, I will not go into the all well known consequences that might occur, but instead I want to keep it on that subject that I have always believed in; and that is self love.
You should love yourself enough to know that you are worth the wait. I know, I think I have said this before. But it just seems like it can't be said enough. I believe that it is important for all women to understand their value and to know that their self worth is so far beyond imaginable. If we can understand that one thing and just that alone, then we will be able to unleash the tiger that is within. As women we have so much hidden strength and power that has not been tapped into because we just don't know how. We look for answers everywhere except within ourselves.
The answer lies within; we were created to be fierce.
Be not pressured.

Realize

Hi there,
Today I went to work. I know you were probably expecting to read that I wish I did not go or that I hate it. Well in fact I love my job. I am a design apprentice for Elements of Earth Jewelry. I work for Earth Rowe who is the creator and founder of the business. I am the type of person who loves to surround myself with positive people, and she is one of them. Earth is a beautiful woman inside and out, which is why I love to work for her. She believes in the same thing I do; women are extraordinary and lovely. The theme of her company is "Women: Beautiful, Courageous, Vibrant, Resilient, Powerful." Her designs and creations do exude that and only that motto. You can see for yourself at www.elementsofearthjewelry.com Hint, Hint... check it out.
So I have come to realize that yes some of us do know that we are beautiful and courageous and strong and vibrant, but do we really know why? Have you ever asked yourself why you are and do represent these qualities? Have you ever been told that you were beautiful? Do you remember the first time you heard that word spoken to you? What does it all mean to you?
Well I do not remember the first time I heard that word spoken to me. Although I do remember that I heard it at a very young age from my parents and loved ones. Throughout my life I have not only heard those words spoken to me; I have heard words such as, inspiring and others I'd much rather not say to not sound self indulgent. My whole point is that hearing these encouraging words at such a young age made me who I am today. Because of this I live to promote self love.
Ladies, I leave you with these words; the next time you talk to your sister, or friend tell them that they are beautiful. Tell them why they are too.
Stay blessed.

To my exquisite ladies

Hi there,
My name is Melanie. I decided to create this blog because I saw and still see the need to encourage young ladies. As I look at the media and just every day life I notice that there are just too many negative images of us out there. These images can alter our young ones' minds to think that they are worthless and only sexual objects. Well I want to remind you, my exquisite ladies, that we are so far beyond wonderful.
Since the images out there tend to displace our spirits I want to share this here oath with you. I try to say this or at least think of these words and let them resonate within my mind before I step outside my door every morning.
This is My Oath:
-I vow to love myself first and foremost.
- I know that I am a beautiful and self confident woman that cannot and will not be driven to pieces by anyone in any occasion.
- I am a regal woman and my body is a gorgeous masterpiece that should remain exclusive.
- I know my worth and it cannot be reduced.
- The look of my skin,
The sound of my voice,
The rhythm of my stride,
The width of my smile,
The access of my wisdom,
The power of my mind
Is illuminating, virtuous, passionate, stunning, outstanding, dazzling.
-I am an elegant, exquisite lady of nature.
I hope these words have uplifted your spirits and have moved you to remind all exquisite ladies of nature that they are beautiful.
Stay Blessed.

We live to love.
